DONOR DRIVE for YOLANDA LEE and OTHERS
Sunday, April 16th from 8:30AM – 2PM
Bethel’s Heavenly Hands
12660 Sandpiper Dr.
Houston, TX. 77035

You may have heard but I want to share a motivating story about Yolanda Lee who is a wife, mother, retired military member and retired Houston Fire Department engine operator. Yolanda was recently diagnosed with MDS, a blood disorder that can evolve into leukemia. Like 14,999 other patients battling blood disorders and blood cancer, the only cure is a bone marrow transplant.
Bethel’s Heavenly Hands (where Yolanda’s husband, James, is a Pastor) is hosting Blood Stem Cell Registration Drive on Sunday, April 16 from 8:30AM to 2PM. Anyone and everyone in good health and between the ages of 18-55 is encouraged to join us. Registering as a potential donor takes a matter of minutes and involves understanding what happens IF found to be a matching donor, filling out a form and swabbing the insides of your cheeks. So please join me and come on out and let’s do our part for Yolanda and the other patients in our community searching for donors!
You can help in a variety of ways:
- COME TO THE DRIVE to get swabbed. Feel free to bring a friend or…three!
- Spread the need:
- Forward this page to as many people as possible or spread the word the old fashioned way: tell 5-10 people about this opportunity and ask those who are between the ages of 18-55 and in good health to drive on the 16th to register.
- Use social media: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to share the need. Tag @dkms_US
*Registering to become a donor is more than a cheek swab; it is a humanitarian commitment to help save a life IF found to be a matching donor. When you register with DKMS, you can be found as a donor match for any patient in need of a blood stem cell/bone marrow transplant.
If you have questions about DKMS or the registration process, please contact Raegan Bell at raegan@dkms.org or 646.856.7971
Thank you in advance for your help with this critical need and amazing opportunity.
Best,
